About a month later Isis was in her room studying. So far, she had A’s in all her classes except one. Biology. It was so boring. Cells and mitosis and meiosis… ugh who cares?!? Her brain was literally not working right now.
She picked up her phone and texted Roman. She was initially worried things would be awkward with him after the party, but he was so easy to talk to. They texted regularly, flirted at school, and even hung out at the mall a couple of times.
He replied instantly and she spent the next forty-five minutes smiling at her phone as they chatted back and forth.
Biology be damned.

The next day Isis and Roman were sitting in the cafeteria eating lunch. They were at a table with Jackie and a few other friends (thankfully not Braden) and the two of them were absorbed in a silly debate about whether girls should ask guys out or not. Isis was giggling as she defended her point about being old fashioned.

“Okay, you win.” He laughed. “Isis Amelia Madsen, I was wondering if you would like to go out with me, officially?” Roman asked.
Was he serious? She stared at him. He was actually serious! A huge smile spread across her face as she replied “Of course, Roman Anthony Berry, I would be delighted!”

With that, he leaned in and kissed her on the lips. Nothing pushy. Just a sweet, lingering peck. Technically her first kiss! Was this really happening?
She heard a whistle from someone at the table and realized everybody was watching them. She flushed scarlet red and leaned forward, hiding her face in Roman’s chest. Laughing, he wrapped his arms around her.
The bell rang, signaling 5 minutes until fifth period. Algebra class; the one class she had with Roman. She said bye to Jackie and the others then stood with Roman. They walked to class together, arm in arm.

After school, Isis was in the middle of her yoga session. She either did yoga or ran on the treadmill almost every day. Her parents told her all the time how important physical health was, and they made sure she stayed active instead of sitting on the couch or in her room.

She quite liked yoga and usually turned her phone on silent before she started. This time she must have forgotten though and when it chimed, she couldn’t help but stop to check it. She didn’t mind the interruption when she read Roman’s text.
Roman: Hi sweetness. Just doing homework and thinking of you. Thanks for saying yes today at lunch 😘
Isis: How could I resist that charm of yours? btw, you interrupted my yoga session and I couldn’t be happier.
She put her phone down but was hardly able to concentrate on the rest of her routine.
